How does weather affect our charter?
San Diego is one of the best yacht charter destinations in the country thanks to its consistently mild, sunny weather. With more than 260 days of sunshine each year and a protected harbor that keeps the bay calm even on breezier days, the vast majority of Nerissa charters proceed exactly as scheduled, year-round.
In the rare event of unfavorable conditions, the Captain has full discretion to determine the safest course of action based on current weather and water conditions, as outlined in Clause 7 (Captain’s Authority) of our Terms and Conditions. Safety is always our top priority.
Our weather policy is straightforward:
• If the Captain deems conditions unsafe to board the vessel, you will receive a full refund.
• If the Captain decides the yacht should remain dockside but the event can still proceed with full crew, bar, and catering service onboard, the charter is considered fulfilled and refunds do not apply. Guests still enjoy the full Nerissa experience — just at the dock instead of underway.
For outdoor-focused events, the upper sky deck is open-air, while the main salon and bar area are fully climate-controlled — so guests always have a comfortable indoor option regardless of conditions. This combination of indoor and outdoor space means Nerissa charters remain enjoyable in virtually any San Diego weather.
